Photograph by Bishop Eric Treacy of the 'City of Liverpool' with a northbound expres train. This Coronation Clas steam locomotive No 46247 was photographed by Treacy as it left Tebay, Cumbria, on the West Coast Main Line to Scotland. It was built at Crewe Works in 1943 for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. Photographer Treacy (1907-1978) was often allowed special acces to areas denied to many railway photographers. He also befriended many of the footplate crews, occasionally persuading them to create special smoke effects for the camera.
