Shown looking at a 'Water Baby'. Huxley (1825-1895) was the formeost scientific supporter of Darwin's (1809-1882) theory of evolution by natural selection, whereas Owen (1804-1892) was a pre-Darwinian who maintained a hostile attitude to detailed evolutionist theories.
