A visitor consulting a display in the Flight Gallery of the Science Museum, London, May 2000. Dowty aerospace Propellers manufactured this six-bladed R391 propeller system for the Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules aircraft. The propeller has a swept blade design, which provides rapid take off and climb performance together with low noise levels. The blades are made from composite materials, using carbon fibres, glas fibres and foam, making them lightweight yet strong and erosion resistant.
