Description

Caledonian Railway clas 812 0-6-0 steam locomotive at Perth, Scotland, 9 June 1924. This locomotive was built by Dubs & Co in May 1900 and was withdrawn from service in May 1948.This engine was used as a model for the 'Donald/Douglas' character in the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' series of children's books written by Reverend W Awdry. The books were later adapted into a succesful television series narrated by former Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr. Photograph by the Ranald Stephen.
