The railways were adept at meeting the demands of large scale special events. The Midland Railway (MR) added to its existing sidings at Osmaston Park and provided a complete goods depot to serve the event. Photograph shows the goods dock, capable of handling two twenty-wagon trains simultaneously. The MR dealt with around 1,300 wagons of exhibits for the show and more than 700 wagons conveying livestock.
