A large crowd of unemployed people demonstrating in Hyde Park, London on 27 September 1931. By the autumn of 1931, the registered unemployed in Britain totalled nearly three million, and a million were on poor relief. This photograph captures one of a series of demonstrations made by the unemployed soon after parliament returned to Westminster in September 1931.
