Metal cylinder in a coffin-shaped oak container, presented to Sir Monty Finniston. This object was purchased at a Bonhams Auction in aid of the British Science and Technology Trust in May 1989. Sir Monty Finniston donated the object to be sold at the auction. During the 1940s and 1950s, Finniston was the Chief Metallurgist and Head of Metallurgy Division at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment (aeRE), Harwell, Oxfordshire.
