A heart, 1603. Plate taken from a treatise on veins by Hieronymus Fabricius ab Aquapendente (1537-1619), published in 1603. Fabricius was an Italian anatomist who studied at Padua under Gabriele Falloppio (1523-1562) and succeeded him as profesor of anatomy there. One of his pupils was William Harvey (1578-1657).
