Description

Louis Aime Augustin le Prince (1842-1890) was a French showman, engineer and inventor who took the first moving picture film in October 1888, the subject of which was a Leeds Bridge street scene. Whilst living in London, he used a single lens camera of his own design to work with George Eastman's (1854-1932) paper roll film. Le Prince disappeared mysteriously in 1890, leaving the Lumiere brothers to find a workable method of projecting moving pictures in 1895.
