Description

Bust of Rene Theophile Laennec (1781-1826) made in 1844. Laennec was originally an army doctor before he became editor of the 'Journal de Medicine' and chief physician to the Hospital Necker in 1816. It was at Necker that Laennec invented the stethoscope.
