Two cautery instruments, Ugandan, c 1880-1920.

Description

The upper instrument consists of a flat ended metal rod set into a cylindrical wooden handle said to be for blistering temples. The lower instrument consists of a metal spike with a bent tip and wooden handle which has been scorched. Both were collected from the Bayankole people of Uganda by the Reverend John Roscoe.
