'King Edward set a new fashion in Austria when instead of wearing the usual sombre garb he toured the Vienna Fair in a dark grey suit with grey pullover underneath and a bowler hat. The King made an extensive tour of the exhibition, taking special interest in the British exhibits. The King touring the Vienna Fair with Dr Draxler, Minister of Finance (right), and Herr Heinl, President of the Fair'. Edward VIII (1894-1972) succeeded to the throne in January 1936, but after a 325-day reign he abdicated to be with the woman he loved, Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee.
