Close-up of the recording pens on the meteorograph made by the Schneider Brothers Instrument Company of New Jersey. Scientists anxious to investigate the upper air devised small lightweight instruments which they flew below kites or balloons. This example, for use with a kite, measured temperature, humidity, air presure and wind velocity.
