Study used by Sir Barnes Neville Wallis (1887-1979). General view of Barnes Wallis' study at White Hill House, Effingham. Barnes Wallis was an English aeronautical designer, famous for inventing the bouncing bomb. He designed for Vickers the R100 airship, and later went on to produce aircraft designs which combined lightnes with strength - applying this to the 'Wellesley' and 'Wellington' bombers. With the succes of his bouncing bomb, Wallis was allowed by the authorities to produce heavy, penetration bombs - the 'Tallboy' and 'Grand Slam'.
