Engraving by W Sharp after a painting by Sir W Beechey. Sir Everard Home (1756-1832) was a pupil of John Hunter. He was lecturer in anatomy and surgeon at St George's Hospital, London. Home was the first president of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was later surgeon to the Chelsea Hospital, London, and reputedly used Hunter's manuscripts before destroying them. He is shown seated at his desk, holding a letter.
