Rear view with case removed. This five inch Pye television in a satin walnut cabinet is vision-only. In the 1930s, the cost of a television receiver was comparable to the price of a saloon car. To cut the cost of purchasing a television set, it was posible to buy cheaper models without sound. People could use their existing radios as an amplifier instead. W G Pye & Co, established in the early 1900s, was a large radio and television manufacturers based in Cambridge, England.
