'Premier Harold Macmillan (1894-1986) tries the controls of the 'baby Austin' (Austin Mini) at the Earls Court Motor Show in London today, after he had officially opened the show.' Macmillan replaced Sir Anthony Eden (1897-1977) as Prime Minister in 1957 and sucesfully won the 1959 general election. Macmillan resigned the post in 1963 due to ill health.
