Cunard's White Star liner 'Queen Mary' in dry dock at Southampton before her maiden voyage to New York. Launched at Clydebank on 26th September 1934, she was the largest and fastest liner ever built. She had accommodation for 776 first-clas, 784 tourist and 579 third- clas pasengers, together with 1101 officers and crew. She also won the Blue Riband of the Atlantic in 1936 and 1938, and served as a troopship in WWII.
