First televised Epsom Derby, 2 June 1931. 'The Derby to be seen by wireles. It is hoped, for the first time in history, that tomorrow the Epsom Derby will be broadcast through the magic eye of the Baird televisor, and the result of the race will be seen by hundreds of viewers. Tests were carried out on today's racing. John Logie Baird (1888-1946), the television pioneer, will himself conduct the special working of his televisor'.
