John Logie Baird (1888-1946), the television pioneer, with one of his pre-WWII televisions. 'Baird has not allowed the wartime ban on this form of entertainment and instruction to interfere with his experiments and work. In the workshop of his home at Sydenham, London, he is pushing ahead steadily, and when the ban is removed, the public will be able to appreciate what tremendous strides have been made in the science of television'.
