Model (scale 1:48). Engineer Sebastian Ferranti (1864-1930) was one of the first to suggest building large power stations outside cities, where land was cheaper, and to transmit the electricity to small substations near the users. Ferranti planned the Deptford Central Station for the London Electricity Supply Corporation. Part of his Deptford project was built, but as a result of bureaucracy, and the technical limitations of the era, this electricity supply station was never completed.
