An unidentified 'The Royal Scot' steam locomotive, 4- 6-0 engine, on a down expres pasing milepost 17 between Bushey and Watford. The train's reporting number is W119 which may be a late afternoon departure from Euston. These numbers were invaluable to signal men, though they obstructed the locomotive's smoke box number plate! This was probably taken in about 1946 as the train is a heavy one of 13 coaches and there is no sign of a restaurant car.
