Rigged model. From the early days of Bermuda becoming a British colony, this type of dinghy has been used as a means of transport around the island. The vesels were used for fishing, transport, and since the mid 19th century for racing. The name probably originates from the Indian word 'dingi', which means small boat, almost certainly applied to the craft by British Army officers who had served in India.
