Model (scale 1:8). This model represents the Leyland 'New World' wagonette fire engine supplied to the Birmingham Fire Brigade. It differs from earlier fire engines in having seats facing inwards. Previous engines had longitudinal benches facing outwards so the crew could leap off immediately on arrival at a fire. This engine had a 700 gallon turbine pump and a separate pump and hose sufficient to extinguish small fires. Side view.
