Description

A platinum steel 'cut-throat' razor with a horn handle marked Harold L Barnard. Michael Faraday (1791-1867) was a leading scientist and pioneer of electro-magnetic induction who was also a leading member of the Sandemanian church, a gentle Christian sect. In 1821, the same year that he was made Asistant Superintendent of the Royal Institution, Faraday married Sarah Barnard, the daughter of a leading Sandemanian family.
