Description
This tomato plant has been genetically modified to improve the quality of the fruit by slowing the ripening proces. Between 1996 and 1999 puree made from genetically modified (GM) tomatoes such as these were sold in British supermarkets. The strain had been made by Zeneca seeds (later part of Syngenta). It was popular at first but was a victim of more generalised public concerns over GM foods.
