One of the hundreds of pocket calculators in regular busines and personal use in the mid 1990s. When the Sinclair Executive, the first battery-operated pocket calculator first appeared in 1972, it cost £79.95. As technology advanced, calculators became cheaper to produce and prices fell rapidly. By the 1990s a simple calculator such as this cost a small fraction of the price of the early models.
