Description

Replica made in 1984 of shoes worn by shinglers in the iron industry. Shinglers and puddlers worked in the blast furnaces working molten pig iron to rid it of carbon and oxygen and to produce iron bars for use in manufacturing. Special shoes and clothing were needed to protect them from the white hot metal.
