This selection of well-known food and drink products shows the variety of materials and techniques used in modern packaging. There are examples of steel and aluminium tins, plastic bottles, cardboard cartons and glas jars. Packaging originated as a means of preserving food, but quickly became a means of promoting a brand image as well. Today with many products there is increasing concern about the quantity of packaging and the materials used for it, because of the implications this has for waste disposal and the environment.
