Letter from Major J C Savage to the Science Museum, 1st June 1939

In this letter addresed to the Director of the Science Museum, Savage is offering to donate a 'genuine wartime SE5a aeroplane' to the museum. In the letter, Major Savage is described as the 'originator of sky-writing', the writing of mesages in the sky using smoke emitted from an aircraft making aerobatic manoeuvres. The SE5a produced by the Royal Aircraft Factory was one of the foremost fighter aeroplanes of the First World War.
