Stainles steel mould for beer glas, c 1996.

Pint glas mould made by Demaglas Tableware. Even when it is molten, glas is extremely thick so needs help in flowing around the mould. This is achieved by pres moulding. Liquid glas at 1500C is dropped into the mould and, as the glas starts to cool, a plunger is used to push and squash the glas up against the walls of the mould. The stainles steel mould could shape up to 13 million beer tankards before it becomes too worn to use.
