Drawing of a 'Waverley' Clas locomotive from the sketch book of Sir Daniel Gooch, Locomotive Superintendent of the Great Western Railway (GWR) 1837-1864. The volume contains drawings and details (including costings) of locomotives designed by Gooch for the Great Western Railway between 1840 and 1862. 340 locomotives were built to Gooch's designs at the GWR's Swindon Works to run on the railway's broad gauge tracks.
