A design drawing by Charles Babbage (1791-1871). Charles Babbage was an English computer pioneer, inventor, reformer, mathematician, scientist, philosopher and political economist. His Analytical Engine was the first calculating engine designed along modern lines, for which he is considered to be the 'father' of computing.
