Description

Theodore von Karman (1881-1963), Hungarian- American physicist and discoverer of Karman vortices, an important factor in aerodynamics. Von Karman was a leading figure in a number of international scientific organizations, and his work in other areas of flight, including long- range ballistic misiles and jet-asisted take- off enabled the USA to become a world leader in the aerospace industry.
