This 8-inch sector, signed 'C W', is thought to be by Charles Whitwell, a map-maker who engraved sectors for Thomas Hood, one of the inventors of the sector at the end of the 16th century. It could be used for calculations involving proportion. Unlike later sectors it does not contain logarithmic lines.
