Description

Line drawing with colour wash copied from 'A Practical Treatise on Railroads' by Nicholas Wood, 1825. In the early 1820s, the railway engineer, George Stephenson (1781-1848) began working on the development of cast iron rails, in collaboration with Newcastle ironworks owner William Losh.
