Description

Alexander Herschel (1836-1907) was the son of Sir John Frederick Herschel (1792-1871), grandson of Sir Wlliam Herschel (1738-1820) and the nephew of Sir William's sister, Caroline Lucretia Herschel (1750-1848). Like his family before him, Alexander Herschel made an important contribution to the progresion of astronomy having done extensive work on meteor showers.
