Description

Signed engraving by Barlow of the Alsace-born inventor, Joshua Heilmann (1796-1848), who invented the first machine for combing cotton. Heilmann invented and revised the design of many other machines including looms, a machine for measuring and folding material, and the first embroidery machine.
