Two astronauts are shown during Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) in the open cargo bay of the Shuttle. The Space Shuttle, the world's first partially reusable launch vehicle, first flew on 12th April 1981 and has been used for all America's manned space misions ever since. The first EVA made from a Shuttle was performed by astronauts Donald Peterson and Story Musgrave on the first flight of Challenger in April 1983.
