Description

Painting showing Boys standing in a laboratory. Boys (1855-1944) was born in Leicestershire, and among his many inventions are the calorimeter for determining the calorific value of coal gas, an improved torsion balance and the radiomicrometer. He was president of the Physical Society, London, between 1916 and 1918.
