Saint Thomas Aquinas (c 1225-1274) started his education at Montecasino before moving to the University of Naples and there joining the Dominican Order. Thomas then completed his studies at the University of Paris where he encountered the writings of Aristotle. Thomas's own theological writings mixed faith and philosophy and placed his work as an important record of both Catholicism and Aristotle.
