Colne Valley Viaduct at Chappel, Essex. British Railways (Eastern Region) carriage print with artwork by L R Squirrell. Colne Valley Viaduct was designed and built by the engineer Peter Schuyler (1812-1900) for the Eastern Counties Railway. It was completed in 1849 and has 30 arches approximately 75 feet high.
