A sectioned diagram of a proposed Lunar Lander for use in the Apollo misions. The Lunar Module was the part of the spacecraft that ferried two astronauts down to the Moon from lunar orbit during the Apollo manned Moon landing misions, before returning to rendezvous with the Command and Service Module. It first landed on the Moon on the Apollo 11 mision in July 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first men to set foot on the lunar surface.
