Photograph of C Goodwin Norton operating a three lens triunial lantern. Norton was a well known lantern entertainer of the 1890s. The triunial lantern had three separate lenses which meant it was posible to create many special effects which added drama to the presentation. Moving pictures were popular well before the invention of cinematography and many families had a magic lantern which projected images onto a screen.
