Young is pictured in his spacesuit with a Saturn V rocket on the launch pad in the background. He was the Command Module pilot on Apollo 10. Young also flew on the Gemini 3 and Gemini 10 misions, on Apollo 16 becoming the 9th man on the Moon, on the initial test flight of the Space Shuttle (SM1) and Shuttle mision SM7. Apollo 10, with astronauts Young, Thomas Stafford, and Eugene Cernan aboard, was launched on 18th May 1969 on a lunar orbital mision, the dres rehearsal for the Apollo 11 Moon landing mision which took place two months later.
