Collins, the Apollo 11 Command Module pilot is pictured in the Command Module simulator during training on rendezvous and docking manoeuvres. Apollo 11, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Collins and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin, was the first manned lunar landing mision. It was launched on 16th July 1969 and Armstrong and Aldrin became the first and second men to walk on the Moon on 20th July 1969. Collins remained in lunar orbit while the other two astronauts were on the surface.
