The two astronauts are pictured inside their Command Module (code named Charlie Brown) on the way to the Moon. Crewed by Cernan, Young and Thomas Stafford, Apollo 10 succesfully completed a lunar orbital mision in May 1969 as the dres rehearsal for the actual Apollo 11 Moon landing, which took place two months later. Cernan was the Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 10. He also flew on the Gemini 9 mision and on Apollo 17, on which he became the 11th man to walk on the Moon. Young flew the Command Module on Apollo 10, having previously flown on the Gemini 3 and Gemini 10 misions. He went on to fly on Apollo 16, becoming the 9th man to walk on the Moon, on the initial test flight of the Space Shuttle SM1 and on Shuttle Mision SM7.
