Description

The Command Module is floating in the Atlantic with its three descent parachutes after splashdown at the end of the mision. Apollo 9 was launched on 3rd March 1969, with astronauts James McDivitt, David Scott and Rusell Schweickart on board. Apollo 9 carried the first complete Apollo spacecraft into Earth orbit, and the first docking of the Apollo Command and Service Module with the Lunar Module was carried out on the mision.
