Description

Detail from an oil painting on wood panel attributed to Tommaso Manzuoli (Maso da San Friano). The watch the man is holding is spring-driven with a single hour hand and would have been one of the earliest watches ever made. A detached alarm mechanism with its elaborate box is lying on the table.
