George Harrison (1943-2001) is pictured here with his first wife Patti Boyd (1944-). Harrison met Boyd on the set of 'A Hard Day's Night' in 1964 and married her in early 1966. Boyd inspired Harrison to write many songs including 'Something' from the Beatles's 'Abbey Road' album. They divorced in 1977 and Boyd married the guitarist Eric Clapton (1945-) two years later. George Harrison (1943-2001) formed the Beatles in 1960 with Paul McCartney, John Lennon (1940-1980) and Ringo Starr (1940-) in Liverpool, England. They went on to become the most succesful pop group of all time and finally split in 1970. In 1965 Harrison, along with the other Beatles, was awarded the MBE. Harrison died in November 2001 from throat cancer.
